Welcome!

Welcome to Mrs. Essary's Kindergarten website! Thank you for visiting. My goal for this site is to provide families with some frequent information about our Kindergarten classroom, events and learning. You might find pictures, homework/lesson help or explanations and fun facts about our classroom. Please check in from time to time as I am hoping to update a few times each week. If you have any suggestions for what else you would like to see on this page, please let me know. This will give us one more way to interact and stay in touch from school to home. Thanks!

Hexagons

If you thought yesterday's rectangle/square lesson in math was as interesting as the kids did then you can only imagine how "Mind Blown" the Kindergartners were today when we discussed hexagons being ANY closed, 2D shape that has six straight sides.  They LOVED it.  See if you can find the 3 hexagons below...

We also talked about the difference between circles and ovals since they both have a continuous curve and no straight sides.  From the center measuring out, ovals have long and short distances between the center and edge while circles have an equal distance from the center to the edge no matter where you check.

They were very interested mathematicians today!
