As you may have heard, we had an official lock down at all schools in Orion today. This was a "soft lock down" where we go on about our day as usual, but no one is allowed in or out of the building because of a safety issue that does not directly affect us at that moment. Henry County Sheriff's Department called for the lock down in response to a situation with a fleeing car headed through Alpha and toward Orion. Once the suspect was apprehended, the lock down was lifted and we went on our merry way to Art. The kids did a great job staying calm and following my directions. We were in the middle of a little free choice play time, so their attention was easily directed elsewhere and everyone was able to stay safe and sound. Feel free to talk to your child about our different lock down procedures and why it is so important to listen, follow directions and stay safe. Super job, Kindergarten!
A brief message was sent out about the lock down through the district's School Messenger System. If you haven't signed up for these handy phone calls or text message alerts, you can do so by visiting the following link and clicking "sign up now".

Welcome!
Welcome to Mrs. Essary's Kindergarten website! Thank you for visiting. My goal for this site is to provide families with some frequent information about our Kindergarten classroom, events and learning. You might find pictures, homework/lesson help or explanations and fun facts about our classroom. Please check in from time to time as I am hoping to update a few times each week. If you have any suggestions for what else you would like to see on this page, please let me know. This will give us one more way to interact and stay in touch from school to home. Thanks!
