BLOG POST #2 FOR 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR!
Today we learned about cows and made cow puppets (These will be in the display case near the front office for viewing at the ice cream social and our Kindergarten farm night!). Tomorrow we will review cows and turn whipping cream into butter, YUM!
We also introduced Ricky and Randy rectangles today. "2 sides short and 2 sides long - Ricky or Randy rectangle- that's their song!" Ricky is a horizontal rectangle, Randy is a vertical rectangle - either way, still a rectangle. Rectangles are FLAT 2D shapes. See if your child can find some rectangles around your house.
In math, we pretended to be pirates and sorted sets of objects into their correct treasure chest. Try having your child sort canned goods into groups. Example: Soups/Vegetables. Aye, Aye Matey!
Your child brought home his/her first classroom library book today, too! You can read these at home and send them back in the baggie when finished and a new one will come home. Please try to read to your child for a little while each night- it makes a huge difference in their language skills and their future reading and writing abilities, as well.
Welcome!
Welcome to Mrs. Essary's Kindergarten website! Thank you for visiting. My goal for this site is to provide families with some frequent information about our Kindergarten classroom, events and learning. You might find pictures, homework/lesson help or explanations and fun facts about our classroom. Please check in from time to time as I am hoping to update a few times each week. If you have any suggestions for what else you would like to see on this page, please let me know. This will give us one more way to interact and stay in touch from school to home. Thanks!
